the twelve zodiac signs
As a European with a strong bond to Chinese culture,
the idea of finding common grounds and blends of these
two heritages has fascinated me recently.
This is my first attempt to explore this theme.
This calligraphy project on the Chinese Zodiac began as a personal research
inside Chinese calligraphy, developed in parallel with the university
lettering course.
The idea was that of blending 行书，"grass style" (or "running style") with the flow of Western calligraphy, using a cola-pen.

The stone seal used in this project was my first attempt at seal making. Personally hand carved at a workshop in Beijing, it carries the character 鹿 (lù, deer), the first character in the Chinese translation of my name.
